US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller has told reporters that the US, "continues to engage with partners in the region specifically Egypt and Qatar to present a revised proposal for Gaza ceasefire."
- Miller said the US is, "trying to make sure it is a proposal that can get the parties to an ultimate agreement," but conceded, "it does not have a timetable for when that proposal will be put forward."
- Miller notes that the US, "has long made clear that it believes a diplomatic solution is the correct way to bring calm to the north of Israel."
- Millers comments come after President Biden's Middle East envoy Amos Hochstein warned Israeli officials today that a broader conflict with Lebanese Hezbollah risks a protracted regional conflict.
- Barack Ravid at Walla News reports: "Hochstein's message came against the background of Israel's growing preparations to go to war against Hezbollah in Lebanon and the meeting of the political-security cabinet tonight, during which the ministers are expected to indicate that returning the residents of the north to their homes is one of the goals of the war."
- Al-Monitor reports: "Hochstein has pushed a multi-point plan that aims to see Hezbollah pull its forces back several kilometers from the border followed by the deployment of Lebanese army forces and international peacekeepers with eventual land swaps to defuse hostilities over the border zone."
