US Gas Prices Fall on the Week: GasBuddy

US gasoline average pump prices are down 5.3 cents/gal from the previous week’s average to be $3.057/gal, according to GasBuddy.

  • Prices have crept up 0.7 cents/gal since yesterday’s average.
  • “As the nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen for the 13th straight week, we’re on the cusp of potentially seeing a $2.99 per gallon average for the first time in years, most welcome just in time for the Christmas holiday,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
  • The most common US gas price was $2.99/gal as of Dec. 18, according to GasBuddy, unchanged on the week.
  • The largest net fall on the week was in Alaska, down 14.5 cents/gal to $3.61/gal. New Mexico saw the largest rise, up 5 cents/gal to $2.938/gal.
  • U.S. retail gasoline demand saw an increase of 2.0% for the week ending December 16 (Sun-Sat), GasBuddy added.
