New analysis from Ipsos has found that the ‘key issues’ dominating the presidential election narrative, like inflation, may have, “only minimal impact on which way people are planning to vote, or if they are going to vote at all.”
- Ipsos notes: “Understanding the issues driving an election is central to understanding the message being sent by voters – think, “it’s the economy stupid.” But despite many pundits, politicians, and pollsters holding up their pet issues as “the” issue of the election, the signals being sent by the American public have not been so clear.
- “Analysis suggests that inflation or cost of living, the top issue in traditional poll questions for over a year, has only minimal impact on which way people are planning to vote, or if they are going to vote at all. Perhaps in a fractured media and information environment, we should not expect a single theme to dominate a majority of the public.”
