US Refinery Maintenance Season Among Heaviest Ever: Delek

Delek expects upcoming US refinery maintenance season to be among the highest ever, following four years of deferred work due to the pandemic and high profit margins, Bloomberg reported.

  • Delek VP of operations Joseph Israel expects 1.5m bd of processing capacity to go offline between Feb-mid March.
  • “This turnaround season will catch a lot of people by surprise,” he said. “It will probably be one of the heaviest on record.”
  • Profit margins are expected to be healthy in 2024 amid strong exports of gasoline to Latin America and Europe.
  • Jet fuel demand should also recover to pre-pandemic levels.
  • Delek operates four refineries with a total processing capacity of 0.3m b/d.
