US Shut In 62kbpd Of Offshore Production Due To Gulf Spill

Oil drillers such as Occidental Petroleum Corp, W&T Offshore Inc and Talos Energy have shut in 62kbpd of offshore production on Thursday following the US Gulf oil spill according to Bloomberg.

  • Companies are not allowed to restart production until the source of the leak is secured and repaired according to a Coast Guard statement.
  • A ruptured subsea pipeline was first reported on Nov 16 and leaked 26kbbls of oil into the Gulf of Mexico near Louisiana.
  • Other companies impacted are Walter Oil & Gas Corp, Cantium LLC and Arena Offshore LLC, according to data from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement.
