US Targets Houthi Revenue with New Sanctions

The US issues sanctions targeting two companies and two vessels that the treasury department that facilitated commodity shipments working on behalf of Iranian-backed Houthi facilitator Sa'id al-Jamal, according to Reuters.

  • The revenue from the commodity sales supports the Houthis and their attacks against international shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the US Treasury said.
  • This follows sanctions imposed in February on oil tankers and two companies said to be working with al-Jamal.
