US Treasury Announces More Sanctions of Chinese Officials over Uighur Abuses

The sanctions include one Chinese entity - the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps - and officials: Sun Jinlong, a former Political Commissar of the entity, and Peng Jiarui, a Deputy Party Secretary and Commander. The announcement Friday comes on the heels of an announcement July 9 when the US Treasury sanctioned four Chinese Communist Party officials and the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau for human rights abuses against Uighur Muslims and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang.
