US: Trudeau Tests Positive For COVID, Met Biden Last Thursday

CANADA

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

  • Trudeau: "I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. I’ll be following public health guidelines and isolating. I feel okay, but that’s because I got my shots. So, if you haven’t, get vaccinated - and if you can, get boosted. Let’s protect our healthcare system, each other, and ourselves."
  • Trudeau had a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles on Thursday.
  • The meeting may be of concern for Biden's team who have made efforts to shield the President from exposure to the virus.
  • This is Trudeau's second positive COVID test this year. In January the PM tweeted: "This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19. I'm feeling fine -- and I'll continue to work remotely this week while following public health guidelines. Everyone, please get vaccinated and get boosted."
