DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD last deals at C$1.3172 after edging 10 pips higher
Monday.
- The pair advanced initially, twice hitting session highs at C$1.3202, but
eased off subsequently, as CAD followed the gyrations in WTI prices.
- DXY extended its recent losing streak into the beginning of the week as the
greenback suffered from a tech-driven tumble in U.S. stocks, which occurred on
the back of renewed global trade worries & reports of Apple cutting orders for
three iPhone models, but this failed to drag the rate into the red, as high beta
FX struggled.
- Bulls need to jump back onto the C$1.32 handle to reaffirm the bull flag
formation before challenging yesterday's highs. On the downside, the
21-DMA/yesterday's low at C$1.3144/42 poses initial bearish target. A move
through this figure would give a chance to challenge the Nov 16 lows of
C$1.3127.
- Canadian focus this week falls on domestic CPI & retail sales figures due
Friday. Meanwhile, BoC's Wilkins will speak twice today.
