DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD sits at C$1.3134 at writing, operating in a 55 pip range
during a volatile Asia-Pac session.
- The rate jumped ~50 pips on some GOP-positive headline flow during the U.S.
Midterm elections, after it was pressured on the early Democrat-favourable
headlines. The bid halted just a pip shy of the key C$1.3160 level, before the
rate returned to the C$1.3105 region, which was tested 3 times overnight, as
subsequent headlines reinvigorated prior expectations of the GOP losing its grip
on the House, which ultimately came to fruition.
- Heavy oil prices continue to weigh on/limit the CAD after crude hit fresh
multi-month lows yesterday.
- The nearby bullish focus falls on yesterday's highs of C$1.3144. A return
above would open up today's highs & the Nov 1/Oct 31 high at C$1.3169/70.
Conversely, bears continue to eye a break of the C$1.3100 level before targeting
the 100-DMA at C$1.3072.
