FOREX: USD edges through last week's highs as Europe digests the Fed
-The greenback (and, to a lesser extent, the JPY) are the strongest in G10 as
European traders digest and interpret the Fed's rate hike yesterday. The USD
index's climb broke through last week's highs, to print the best levels since
Sep17.
-AUD and NZD are among the poorest performers today as the RBNZ kept their
options open on the next policy move being a rate cut, despite interest rates
already sitting at record lows. NZD/USD eased back below the 50-dma, revisiting
the mid-0.66's.
-EUR/USD came under selling pressure in early Europe, with markets eyeing
further drama in Italian budget talks and the government's setting of deficit
targets. EUR/USD briefly dipped back below the $1.17 mark before seeing some
support from buoyant German regional CPI data.
-Speeches from BoE's Haldane and Carney, ECB's Draghi, Praet and Lane, Fed's
Kaplan and Powell as well as BoC's Poloz are the calendar highlights. US weekly
jobs numbers, GDP revisions and durable goods orders are the data highlights.
