USD/TRY 1-Week Implied Vol Soars Ahead Of Elections

  • President Recep Tayyip Erdgan appears at three election rallies today as Turkey enters the final stretch of its election campaign which sees the Turkish leader fighting to keep his post. USD/TRY 1-week volatility soared to 60%, its highest level since early January 2022, with domestic voters set to cast their ballots on May 14. Polling stations at Turkish embassies across many European countries and the U.S. have closed. The Daily Sabah reported that the number of votes cast abroad has already exceeded the 2018 number.
  • Turkish cash budget balance for April will cross the wires at 15:30BST/17:30TRT.
