USDCAD Cranks Through Two Resistance Levels

CANADA
  • USDCAD increases further as CAD and the Antipodeans struggle against the USD, with the latest nudge higher as oil slides.
  • The pair sits +0.45% at 1.2600 (high 1.2612) for a 1.6% bounce since before Brainard on Tuesday with a further boost from the FOMC minutes.
  • Already through the 20-day EMA and having just cleared the Mar 28 high of 1.2593, it now opens the 50-day EMA of 1.2632.
  • Possibly helped by BAX marginally outperforming Eurodollars today and Can-US 10Y yield differential at month lows, but move could be limited with broad consensus for a 50bp hike from BOC next week.
