USDCAD Nears Oversold Territory

CANADA
  • The dollar’s post-jobless claims slide today sees USDCAD continue to set new session lows, most recently 1.3238, with CAD broadly mid-pack despite softer housing activity data, albeit partly offset by strong house price growth.
  • It has easily pushed through support at 1.3275 (Jun 14 & Feb 14 lows) and now more tentatively a vol band undercutting at 1.3246 (1.0% 10-dma envelope).
  • The next vol band doesn't undercut until 1.3112 (2.0% 10-dma envelope) but the pair is nearing oversold territory with the 14-day RSI at 30.8 having seen a decent bounce off similar levels when reached in mid-April. For perspective, the nearest historical turning points have been 1.3226 (Nov 15 low).
