USDCAD Retreats To Pre-Powell Levels, Still Overbought

CANADA
  • USDCAD has dropped back to pre-Powell levels around the 1.36 handle as the S&P e-mini sees a quick increase and WTI retraces a sharp decline, although the pair remains in overbought territory.
  • It retreats from a high of 1.364 that had taken a sizeable step closer to a key resistance at 1.3655 (May 26 high), beyond which lies 1.37332 (trendline drawn from Oct 13, 2022 high).
  • With the USD more broadly giving up earlier gains, CAD returns to its position of near the bottom of the G10 FX pack on the day.
