USDCAD Takes Another Step Closer To Key Resistance

  • USDCAD sees a sharp increase to a high of 1.3634 after the initial step lower on Powell, as part of broader USD moves.
  • The pair had again pushed to the 1.36 mark ahead of the remarks, whilst this stronger clearance of the handle sees it take another step closer to a key resistance at 1.3655 (May 26 high) beyond which lies 1.37332 (trendline drawn from Oct 13, 2022 high). The 14-day RSI extends further into overbought territory at 76.
  • Broader USD strength sees CAD pull back closer to the middle of the G10 FX pack after earlier underperformance.
