USDCAD Unwinds Break Of Key Support On Russia Headlines

CANADA
  • USDCAD bounces to 1.2461 from an earlier low of 1.243 on latest headlines that the Russian army is regrouping at Kyiv and Chernhiv fronts as planned, and that Russia has not ceased hostilities.
  • It had earlier cleared key support from the Jan 19 low of 1.2451 (Jan 19 low), on a combination of USD weakness and oil firming even though CAD lagged most G10 peers vs the USD.
  • The downtrend in the pair generally still down -0.3% on the day, as support is next eyed at 1.2387 (Nov 10, 2021 low).
  • The next known driver of further moves could be Kansas Fed’s George at 1300ET.
