Venezuela and Trinidad Start Talks on Dragon Field Gas Exports

Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago started price negotiations for exports of Venezuelan natural gas via Trinidad, according to Reuters.

  • The negotiations follow authorisation from the US to begin talks.
  • The Dragon project, holding 4.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, has been on hold for over a decade due to difficulties finding investment and US sanctions on Venezuela.
  • Another gas field, Loran, could also see its output exported to Trinidad, which needs to boost inflows to its natural gas and petrochemical plants, Reuters said.
