Venture Global LNG Presses Regulator to Approve CP2 Project

US LNG developer Venture Global LNG asked federal regulators Feb. 15 to approve construction of its Calcasieu Pass 2 export plant at their meeting next month, according to Reuters.

  • The CP2 facility needs separate US approvals for construction and exporting to non-FTA countries - the biggest buyers of US LNG.
  • The Biden administration paused future LNG export permits pending a review on its economic and environmental impacts.
  • It has offtake agreements for half of its capacity with the likes of: JERA, SEFE, EnBW, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron, Reuters said.
