Vice President Kamala Harris is shortly due to give a speech in North Hampton, New Hampshire to announce her small business plans. LIVESTREAM
- Harris is expected to unveil a new set of policies to underpin her goal to achieve 25 million new small business applications in a first White House term, up from 19 million in President Biden’s first term.
- Semafor reports: “The measure would supercharge an existing tax deduction that entrepreneurs can claim for early expenses incurred, hiking it to $50,000 from $5,000 in tandem with other new initiatives to simplify tax filing and reduce regulations for businesses expanding into other states.”
- A Democrat strategist said: “This is core to her belief. She thinks small businesses are part of what creates a strong middle class and helps people build wealth in this country.”
- Axios reports: “The Harris campaign did not provide a cost estimate for its proposal, which would need congressional approval.”
- The Wall Street Journal reports: “Expanding the break wouldn’t necessarily be partisan; Rep. Vern Buchanan (R., Fla.) has repeatedly sponsored a bill to increase the deduction to $20,000. The House passed that in 2018 on a 260-156 vote, with the Trump."
