VP Says Next Steps on Economy to Follow Free Market Rules

  • The Economy Coordination Board reviewed the economy’s macro and budgetary outlook and will announce its medium-term program in September, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said after a meeting in Ankara (BBG).
  • Yilmaz said that Turkey will strengthen financial stability through monetary, fiscal policies and structural reforms and steps taken will be in line with free-market rules.
  • He added that the main issue is the fight against inflation.
  • Participants of the meeting included Treasury & Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek and new central bank Governor Gaye Erkan.
