UK DATA: Wage Growth Continues to Accelerate But Jobless Rate Ticks Up

Nominal total wage growth hit a three-year high in the three months to 
September, despite the unemployment rate ticking up for the first time 
since Q4 2017 (4.09% to 2dp). Real pay, on both total and regular terms, 
were the highest since Q4 2016. Wage pressures continued to be supported 
by elevated vacancies and reduced suuply of workers. Vacancies, 
forward-looking by one month, rose to a record-high 845,000 in the 3m 
to Oct, while the flow of EU nationals to the UK fell by 132k between 
Jul-Sep versus a year ago - the largest fall on record. Flash 
productivity figures showed output-per-hour down 0.4% in Q3 after Q2's 
0.5% rise but was up 0.5% on the quarter on an output-per-worker basis.
