Weaker Overnight

AUSSIE BONDS

The weakness in U.S. Tsys resulted in a parallel shift in Aussie bond futures overnight, with both YM and XM finishing overnight dealing virtually on their respective session lows, leaving the contracts -7.0 & -6.5, respectively at typing. Note that the former has had a look below its overnight base at the re-open. Bills run 4-6bp cheaper through the reds.

  • When it comes to the local calendar, Tuesday will bring the release of the weekly ANZ-Roy Morgan consumer confidence reading & the auction of A$150mn of the 3.00% 20 September 2025 Indexed Bond. We also note that the RBA will use its 2022 conference to present draft papers on ‘The Causes, Challenges and Consequences of the Low Interest Rate Environment’ (14:30 Sydney/05:30 London).
