Weekly Net Buys Negative On Redemptions, Quarter-End Adjustments

The ECB rang up negative weekly net asset purchases in the week to July 1, for only the 2nd time all year, as redemptions and quarter-end adjustments weighed on net figures. (The ECB ended net asset purchases under APP as of July 1, though reinvestments are continuing).

  • Net PEPP purchases were net negative by more than E2bln for the second consecutive week, while PSPP net buys fell by E5.5bln to E0.6bln.These included E3.2bln in PEPP redemptions and E3.8bln in quarter-end adjustments (offsetting E4.6bln in gross purchases), and E2.0bln in PSPP redemptions and E2.6bln in quarter-end adjustments (offsetting E5.2bln in gross purchases).
  • Covered Bond purchases accelerated to a 6-week high, while CSPP slipped to a three-week low and ABS remained net negative for a second consecutive week.
