Westinghouse has signed a contract with Slovenia’s GEN energija conduct a technical feasibility study for the deployment of an AP1000 reactor for the planned expansion at the Krško nuclear power plant according to BalkanEnergyNews. 

  • EdF is doing a separate study. Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) has dropped out.
  • The existing nuclear facility is based on Westinghouse’s technology,
  • Slovenia's proposed new nuclear plant, JEK2, potentially a one or two-unit facility would be located next to the existing 700MW Krško plant.
