What to Watch: Brent Options Expiry, Rig Counts & COT

ENERGY
  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 13:00ET. The US oil rig count was last week down at 497 after holding between 494 and 505 since September. The gas rig count was last week up slightly to 120.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitments of traders reports are due for release after the close today at 18:30GMT and 15:30ET. Crude managed money net long positions were relatively unchanged last week with Brent the most bullish since September but offset by a drop in WTI positions.
  • The Mar24 Brent options expire against the 19:30BST futures close price today with the main strikes of note at 80$/bbl and 85$/bbl.
