ENERGY: What to Watch: EIA Gas and Oil and ARA Oil Product Stocks

  • The EIA weekly gas inventories for the week ending Jan. 17 will be released this afternoon at 10:30 ET (15:30BST). The expectation is for a draw of 252bcf according to a Bloomberg survey following a draw of 258bcf the previous week. The seasonal normal is a draw of around 167bcf.
  • The day delayed EIA weekly petroleum inventory data for the week ending Jan. 17 is due for release today at 12:00ET (17:00GMT). A Bloomberg survey expects a 0.83mbbl draw in U.S. crude stocks, a 1.3mbbl build in gasoline and a 0.26mbbl build in distillates while refinery utilisation fell 1.05 percentage points.
  • The updated Insights Global European ARA product inventories will be released today around 15:15BST. Gasoil stocks the previous week held above normal at 2.56m mt while ARA Gasoline stocks were at a record high at 1.54m mt.
