The UK jobs market remained hot in the three months to January,
although more recent claimant data could raise questions about the
sustainability of employment growth. Women accounted for 93% of new jobs
created in the lastest three month period, leaving females to comprise a
record-high 47.5% percent of the work force. Self employed roles rose by
72,300, accounting for a joint record high 15.3% of all jobs. Despite a
19,000 rise in vacancies in the three months to February, other
indicators could suggest a softening in the labour market, as the
claimant count rate increase to its highest level since January of 2014.
