Workers at Woodside Energy’s North West Shelf LNG export plant in Australia have endorsed to take industrial action if a dispute over an enterprise bargaining agreement is not resolved by Wednesday, meaning workers could start industrial action as early as 2 September according to the Offshore Alliance.

  • “Offshore Alliance members have unanimously endorsed giving Woodside seven ‘working days’ notice of Protected Industrial Action if our EBA bargaining claims for the Woodside Platforms are not resolved by COB Wednesday 23rd August,” it said in a Facebook post.
  • At Chevron, workers at the Gorgon and Wheatstone downstream facilities began voting on possible industrial action on Friday. Employees at the Wheatstone offshore platform are scheduled to start voting today.
  • Last week Asian LNG buyers started to halt spot purchases and to request looser delivery terms to avoid impacts from possible strike action. Importers had asked suppliers not to designate a specific port of departure for future purchases and contracted deliveries to avoid disruptions.
  • LNG shipments from Australian plants haven’t yet been delayed or canceled as of Monday, and Asian importers aren’t rushing to find replacements, according to traders.
