RUSSIA: Xi Hails China’s Ties with Russia, CBR Set USD/RUB Rate Below 100

- Xi said he’s willing to work with his Russian counterpart to take bilateral relations to new heights, vowing to leverage the resilience and stability of the ties to respond to “external uncertainties,” Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.
- During remarks at the White House, President Donald Trump says he’s likely to impose sanctions on Russia if President Vladimir Putin doesn’t come to the table to negotiate on Ukraine, Bloomberg reported.
- The CBR set the official exchange rate for the dollar below 100 rubles for the first time since December 27, Vedomosti report, as USD/RUB dropped 2% to 99.93. The ruble benefited from the easing of geopolitical risks and the CBR’s decision to increase the supply of forex on the market, the newspaper add.
