(MNI) London-More comprehensive comments from Chinese President Xi Jinping being reported by state media following his 35-minute set of talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. Xi: "The world needs a generally stable China-US relationship...China respects US interests and does not seek to challenge or displace the United States...[Xi] hopes to see a sound and steady China-US relationship."

• State media: 'Xi believes that the two major countries can overcome various difficulties and find the right way to get along.' Xi is 'Calling on the US to adopt a rational and pragmatic attitude and work with China in the same direction.'

• The language from Xi's meeting is notably more positive than that which followed Blinken's meeting with senior diplomat Wang Yi.
