Yen Firms In Early Trade

The Yen has firmed in early trade, the aforementioned comments from BOJ's Ueda have weighed on USD/JPY on Monday morning. Elsewhere the move has spillover over into wider pressure on the greenback.

  • USD/JPY prints at ¥146.90/95, the pair is ~0.6% lower this morning, a session low of ¥146.67 was printed in volatile early trade. Support comes in at ¥145.88 the 20-Day EMA.
  • Kiwi is ~0.4% firmer and has breached the $0.59 handle, benefitting from the broader move lower in the USD.
  • AUD/USD is ~0.3% higher and sits a touch below the $0.64 handle. Resistance comes in at $0.6456, 20-Day EMA, then $0.6522, high from Aug 30.
  • Elsewhere in G-10; EUR and GBP are both ~0.1% firmer.
  • Cross asset wise; US Equity Futures are a touch firmer and US Tsy Yields are ~1bps higher across the curve. BBDXY is ~0.2% lower.
  • There is a thin docket for the remainder of today's Asian session.
