Yen Gains Extend, Aided By US Tsy Uptick

Yen gains have extended. USD/JPY getting to a low of 142.81. We now sit slightly higher, last near 142.90/95. Yen gains of 0.45% are outpacing the rest of the G10. The BBDXY is off 0.20%.

  • The latest bout of yen strength appeared to coincide with an uptick in US Tsy futures, although we didn't get beyond Wednesday highs for the 10yr.
  • The Japan Government raised its inflation projection for next fiscal year, but it remains sub the BoJ's outlook (see this BBG link for more details). The growth outlook was also firmed.
