Zamrazilova Optimistic About Reaching Inflation Target In '24, Parliament Debates "Lex CEZ"

  • CNB Deputy Governor Eva Zamrazilova said she was confident that Czechia's inflation would reach the +2% Y/Y target next year. She noted that the CNB needed to "somehow persuade companies that if they try to raise prices too much, then we will simply keep interest rates high for a long time".
  • Czechia's Food Chamber head Dana Vecerova said that food producers have little room for lowering prices. She complained that although raw materials are cheaper, the costs of everything else have increased, while any possible rise in energy prices next year will have to be reflected in the prices of goods.
  • The Committee for Constitutional and Legal Affairs will discuss a bill that would make it easier for the government to revamp the ownership structure of majority state-owned energy giant CEZ.
  • The Presidents of Visegrad Group countries (Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary) will convene in Prague today to discuss project funded through the International Visegrad Fund. President Petr Pavel will hold a media briefing on the outcomes of the summit later in the day.
