UKRAINE

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that his country's armed forces are continuing to make territorial gains in the Kursk oblast of Russia. He says that Ukrainian troops have advanced 1-2 kilometres in various directions since the start of the day. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi claims that Ukrainian forces have captured 100 Russian PoWs so far today.

  • Zelensky goes on to ask Syrskyi to seek to strengthen the main centres of military action on the frontlines in the Donbas in Toretsk and Pokrovsk 'as Ukraine awaits aid from allies'.
  • As the Kyiv Independent reports, "Russian forces continue attacking Toretsk, and battles have now reached the outskirts of the town, [...] Russia keeps sending sabotage groups and increased the frequency of airstrikes, [military spox] added.[...] "As for the ground attacks, yes, the intensity has dropped a bit... They did not decrease significantly, but they (Russian forces) are trying to compensate for this by increased strikes with guided aerial bombs," [spox]said."
