Zelenskyy Says 'I Am Confident In America' Amid Funding Concerns

UKRAINE

Speaking at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Granada, Spain, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that "I am confident in America, they are strong people with strong institutions, and a strong democracy." Comes as concerns in Kyiv and Brussels rise that US financial and military support for Ukraine could dry up in the future amid the chaos on Capitol Hill following the ouster of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and the rising antipathy among some Republicans towards continued funding.

  • Also speaking in Granada, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that she is 'very confident' that the US will maintain its support for Ukraine. However, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated that the EU will not be able to make up to Ukraine for aid suspended by the US.
  • Zelenskyy: "We have to win in Ukraine so Putin can't turn his aggression on someone else...Let only Putin's ambitions be ruined, not our cities and people."
