Zemmour Falls To Multi-Month Low In Latest Poll

FRANCE

The latest first round presidential election opinion poll shows far-right candidate Eric Zemmour falling to 9% support, his lowest level of support with Opinionway/Kea since September 2021 (two months prior to him officially entering the race).

  • OpinionWay/Kéa Partners poll: Macron (EC-RE): 29%, Le Pen (RN-ID): 18% (+1), Mélenchon (LFI-LEFT): 13%, Pécresse (LR-EPP): 13% (+1), Zemmour (REC-NI): 9% (-2). +/- vs. 15-18 March 2022. Fieldwork: 18-21 March 2022. Sample size: 1,636
  • With just under three weeks to go until the first round election takes place on 10 April, it is looking increasingly likely that a repeat of the 2017 election will occur, with incumbent President Emmanuel Macron and right-wing nationalist Rassemblement National leader Marine Le Pen going through to the second-round run-off.
  • Zemmour's previous comments praising Russian President Vladimir Putin appear to have damaged his electoral prospects, while an effort to be at the vanguard of international action against the Russian president continues to boost Macron's chances of retaining office.
