Zloty Holds Tight Range, Unemployment Data Provide No Surprises

EUR/PLN is rangebound, last sits +15 pips at 4.3679. Familiar technical levels remain in play, with bulls looking to attack the 20-EMA at 4.4096. From a bearish perspective, a move through Nov 21 low of 4.3411 would open up Mar 12, 2020 low of 4.3237.

  • NBP's Joanna Tyrowicz said that "we don't even have a 50% chance of getting hooked on +3.5% Y/Y [the upper end of the NBP's +/-1pp tolerance band around the inflation target], and +2.5% Y/Y is still far out of reach".
  • Poland's unemployment rate remained at 5.0% in October, in line with expectations. Quarterly data was slightly better than expected, with Q3 unemployment ticking 0.1pp higher to 2.7% versus 2.8% expected.
