According to Real Clear Politics' presidential approval tracker, US President Joe Biden has crossed 56% disapproval for the first time. This the second unwelcome landmark for Biden after dipping below 40% approval for the first time earlier this month.

  • Yesterday, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed Biden's approval dropping to 36%. According to the same poll 73% of Democrats still approve of Biden.
  • Biden is now approaching the low approval of 33% recorded by former president Donald Trump.
  • The Generic Congressional ballot, however, remains tight. The GOP sits at +2.8, according to Real Clear Politics which suggests the midterms may be closer than some current projections of a red wave in the House.
