10’s Look Above BoJ’s YCC Cap

JGBS

JGB futures pulled lower at the re-open, but now operate a little over 10 ticks off of worst levels, -60 on the day, while 10-Year JGB yields have shown above the upper boundary of the BoJ’s permitted -/+0.50% trading band. This comes after a shunt lower in futures during overnight trade, with technical and well-documented fundamental factors both in play as Tokyo trade gets underway.

  • The move in futures has seen the contract print through its overnight base, registering a fresh cycle low in the process, with vol. band support the next levels to watch at 144.14 and 144.02.
  • As mentioned earlier, expect the BoJ to defend its YCC parameters via unscheduled purchases at some point today.
