194 Tankers Diverted Around South Africa Amid Houthi Attacks

The number of tankers that have diverted around the Cape of Good Hope is continuing to rise with 194 tanker diversions since the US and UK started air strikes targeting the Houthi rebels, Oil Brokerage said in a report.

  • This is up from 156 tankers in the week prior.
  • Total northbound crude/condensate transits via Bab el-Mandeb averaged 200kbpd since US and UK airstrikes, down from 1mbpd under normal conditions.
  • Clean petroleum product transits via Bab el-Mandeb averaged 490kbpd since the disruption, down from the usual 2mbpd.
