BONDS: A quick look at Japan's monthly BoP data for December revealed that
Japanese investors:
- Reverted to net buying U.S. Tsys (Y561.7bn vs. net selling of Y376.8bn in
Nov); 6 out of the last 7 months have seen net buying.
- Registered a 3rd straight month of net selling German bonds, albeit at a
slower pace (Y54.1bn).
- Registered a second straight month of net OAT purchases, albeit at a much
slower pace than Nov (Y38.5bn vs. 453.5bn)
- Reverted to small net buying of Italian BTPs (Y17.8bn).
- Reverted to net selling Australian bonds (Y47.4bn) after 2 months of net
buying.
