JGBS: A quiet overnight session for futures, sticking to the Tokyo range after
the long end dragged the complex higher into the Tokyo close, in the wake of the
latest 20-Year auction, which was a little stronger than the previous auction,
but still tepid on a historical basis.
- Source reports have seemingly tried to push back on easing expectations ahead
of the BoJ's next MonPol decision, which is scheduled for next week. The latest
BBG source piece noted that "the Bank of Japan is currently considering
refraining from extra stimulus at its October meeting but will look for a fresh
way to show its continued readiness to take action." Elsewhere, RTRS sources
suggested that "the Bank of Japan is leaning toward keeping monetary policy
steady next week as stable markets, a truce in U.S.-China trade talks and robust
domestic demand give it room to save its dwindling ammunition to battle the next
recession."
- Little of note on the local docket today.
