US TSYS
US TSYS: A quiet re-open for T-Notes after a relatively range-bound Tuesday,
which saw the contract struggle to break out of its Asia-Pac range, as it
finished lower, with yields modestly higher across the curve. Broader risk-on
flows were noted in NY hours, with U.S. President Trump striking a slightly
warmer tone re: Chinese trade matters. Trump also leant on the Fed to provide a
helping hand re: growth, via easier MonPol. A couple of Fed speakers were seen
throughout the day. Williams noted that the economy is "in a good place" and
that the effect of additional trade tariffs on inflation may be significant.
Elsewhere Fed's George stated that the Fed's patient approach to adjusting
MonPol remains appropriate despite persistently below-target inflation, given
the context of a growing economy and tight labour markets. Fed's Quarles didn't
touch on monetary policy in his latest address, while Daly will speak in
Asia-Pac hours.
- Chinese activity data provides the highlight of the Asia-Pac session, with
U.S. focus set to fall on domestic retail sales & industrial production releases
on Wednesday. Fed's Quarles and Barkin will also make addresses on Wednesday.
