Air Force Spox-PLA Ready For War At Any Time; Not Aimed At Country/Region

China's state-run Global Times: "The PLA is accelerating air defense and anti-missile construction to stay ready for war at any time, but this is not aimed at any specific country or region: Shen Jinke, PLA Air Force spokesperson at PLA Air Force open day in Changchun."

• Tensions between China, Taiwan, and the United States spiked again yesterday as US Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) visited Taipei. Blackburn sits on the Senate's Commerce and Armed Services committees, and tweeted on arrival that “I just landed in Taiwan to send a message to Beijing — we will not be bullied...The United States remains steadfast in preserving freedom around the globe, and will not tolerate efforts to undermine our nation and our allies.”
• Taiwan has become increasingly concerned about increasingly brazen crossings of the so-called 'median line' in the Taiwan Strait, as well as accusing Beijing of using the waters as if they were their own despite being an international waterway. Previously an unofficial demarcation between Chinese and Taiwanese halves of the Strait during the Cold War, the growing Chinese navy has increasingly crossed over the median line.
• Despite the spokesperson's assertions that saying the PLA is 'ready for war at any time' are not aimed at anyone in particular, Taiwan and the US will undoubtedly view this as an implicit threat to the island.
