Ambassador Says US Sanctions Won't Yield Positive Results, Delta Variant Running Rampant

  • Health Experts say the Delta variant risks overwhelming Russian health systems with vaccination rates at 13% and herd immunity far off.
    • St Petersburg officials said 90% of the city's 9k hospital beds are full. Officials say Govt has been "caught off guard" by the delta variant.
  • US State Dept says US envoy will return to Moscow this week, saying it "remains committed to open channels of communication with Russia as a means to advance US interests but also reduce the risk of miscalculation between the two"
