LATAM

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) has told reporters that the Pacific Alliance summit scheduled to take place this week in Mexico City has been cancelled.

  • AMLO said yesterday that the summit between leaders from Mexico, Peru, Chile and Colombia would likely be postponed or cancelled after Peru's Congress blocked the travel of President Pedro Castillo.
  • According to Reuters, "An Organization of American States (OAS) mission is currently in Peru to carry out an "objective" analysis of the political crisis in the country."
  • Eric Martin at Bloomberg: "Three weeks ago, Mexico's AMLO touted this week's Pacific Alliance summit that he'd host as the biggest since it was started in 2012."
