ANC Loses Court Case Over MK Party's Name & Logo, SARB To Release Monetary Policy Report

  • The ruling African National Congress (ANC) lost a legal battle against ex-President Jacob Zuma's MK Party over its use of the name and logo of the ANC's defunct military wing. The Pietermaritzburg High Court dismissed the case, noting that it falls outside of its jurisdiction. Separately, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said that Zuma "can no longer be regarded as a member of the ANC," although formal decisions are yet to be taken.
  • The National Treasury holds its weekly bond auction today, with ZAR1.25bn of 7.0% of 2031, ZAR1.25bn of 8.5% 2037 bonds and ZAR1.25bn of 9.0% 2040 bonds on offer.
  • The latest reading of South Africa's leading indicator will come out at 08:00BST/10:00SAST.
  • The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) will release its Monetary Policy Report at 14:30BST/16:30SAST.
