ANO Leader Babis Appears In Court

  • The Prague Municipal Court has started hearing the "Stork's Nest" fraud case involving former Prime Minister and main opposition ANO party leader Andrej Babis. Both Babis and his aide Jana Nagyova were initially acquitted, but the verdict was overturned by the Court of Appeal and returned to the original court with the order to consider new evidence and witness testimonies. The two have been accused of illegally claiming EU subsidies for the construction of a recreational and conference facility.
  • Hospodarske Noviny reported that the European Commission will likely approve by the end of March Czechia's plan to build a fifth generating unit at the Dukovany nuclear power plant. An in-principle agreement has reportedly been reached, with officials now putting together the necessary paperwork.
  • The Cabinet holds its regular meeting today, with a press briefing expected at 12:30GMT/13:30CET.
