ANO Look To File Constitutional Complaint Over Pension Bill In Early May

CZECHIA
  • Leaders of the main opposition ANO movement said that their complaint to the Constitutional Court over the government's controversial pension reform will likely be ready in early May. Head of ANO's parliamentary caucus Alena Schillerova said that the movement "want it to be filed as soon as possible, but it cannot be at the expense of quality." The constitutional complaint can be filed only after the law is gazetted, which should happen in the coming days.
  • In a university lecture last Friday, CNB Deputy Governor Jan Frait said that global central banks should reconsider their approach to managing inflation as they "have lost price stability in the last two years." The official called for placing greater emphasis on "mid-term and long-term fundamental factors, not just estimates of inflation in two years generated by a macro-economic model of one type or another."
  • In the absence of any local data releases, the focus will turn to comments from Czech officials. President Petr Pavel will hold a press briefing at 10:45GMT/11:45CET, while lower house speaker Marketa Pekarova Adamova will discuss her upcoming visits to South Korea and Taiwan at 11:00GMT/12:00CET.
